thanks for the add, Martha -- I'm currently petless but we used to have a great cocker spaniel, one of those dogs who'd bark while wagging his tail hard enough to knock that butterfly in the rainforest back a hundred yards!

Pinging is a way to communicate, but if you use the "My Gather" tab, you can use the friend feed or the group feed to see what your friends or groups are doing. You might want to see what groups your friends are a part of and join the ones that interest you. It gets you more exposure. Also when you publish material, always post it to one or more of your groups as long as it's applicable. I say, invite as many friends as possible. You do not get points for pings, they are fun, but you do get points for people visiting your front page. Hope this helps. If you want, you should write an article about how you are new here and I'm sure you will get a lot of friend invites and group invites. Best of Luck to you! =D
